Oosterpark is the first park established by the governments in their efforts to provide luscious green space for citizens to enjoy. The city owns the park and brought on Dutch landscape artist to design its entire layout. He intended to create a much English designed park and included a couple ponds, and plenty of green space and construction was completed in 1891.

Memorial looks like a man screaming. He was a bold man that was not afraid to speak his mind as was the mastermind behind many controversial films and articles. In 2004, Mohammed Bouyeri, who was linked to the terrorist organization, Hofstad Network, murdered Theo. The memorial now celebrates every citizens right to free speech.
